whiplash cowl..anyone make them. or have a used one.

Does anyone make a whiplash sport 20 cowl, or know anyone with a plug to make one?. I will take a used one as well. Paint doesn't matter.

    Thank you.

I know of a couple of folks that are using the unlimited Vac-U-Pickle cowl.
    Contact Ray http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/member.php?u=264
he can tell you how he did it.
    Hope this helps,

            They look like this.

Now the bad part. If you built your whip with the hatch cut outs it may not work. The curve is incorrect for the Whip, but tapes down with a little pressure, and the pickle cowl is too short, so you have to cut a flat piece of ABS or glass for the rear.

But I like it, looks better and it's got to be half a pound lighter than the Whip hatch.

            All the best,

            Ray

Ray, Nice looking Whip there. I like the turn fin bracket, I bet there is zero flex on that bad boy. What electronics setup are you running in it?

                Ray,

I have run the Whip in multiple configurations. It briefly held the IMPBA Q-Sport SAWS record. I have run it as a P-Sport. But what it is best at is LSH (P-Spec). It dominates over the UL1's and Pickles (I can put almost a lap on them).

That said, this is a special build by Paul P. It weighs considerably less than the standard Whip kit.

Frankly, I wish I had not run it as a SAWS boat, the many 12ft high blow overs have taken thier toll on the hull.

Yes, that turn fin bracket and stand-off make a HUGE difference.

                All the best,

                Ray

Yeah my first Whip kit came from Paul, it was the lightweight version also. I decided to get the normal nitro kit instead and I am glad I did. The wood on the nitro kit was heavier and stronger and has held up to some pretty fast blow over's. I am sure the lightweight version would probably run a little faster but I think it would have been pretty beat up by now.

Anyway that hatch looks great on the Whip, my bud did a home made hatch that looks very close to the pickle hatch but without the turbine. I am 100% positive that if the Pickle hatch was out before he did his build that he would have bought one and fitted it to the Whiplash for sure.

Thank you guys...I appreciate the input. I am going to try the vacu-pickle cowl and see what I can do. Maybe fit it to 1/16th ply and make it fit the whip.

This prototype vacu-pickle cowl, would be perfect for my keps riggers....never really thought about adding them to a fe rigger...would allow a wider possibility of motors to be used, and motor mount angles...easier to work with.

When you order the cowl ask Phil NOT to trim it. If he keeps it the full dimensions of the sheet stock, you may be able to trim it to fit.

                      Just a thought, good luck.

Yes he is still in business but Vac-U-Boat is not his full time job. If you don't hear from him soon send him another email, maybe you got put in a spam folder.

Might be too wide for the rigger? Not the overall cowl, but the raised part? Be worth checking out. It would be totally cool!
