    Jet-villain is ready again

Did a lot of work. Got the packs made, fixed the motor, did some hull modifications, remounted the motor(it was a tad off) and installed the Jeti.

Hopefully I'll be able to report back tomorrow from a test run. I've got to charge the batteries all night, so hopefully everything goes off without a hitch. :D

    To recap:
    700sc motor
    Jeti Navy 600
    16 IB3600 cells in series
    Futuba Attack SR radio
    Graupner jet drive
    KMB impeller

Just got back from taking her out. My god what a difference a real impeller and good batteries makes. It hardly even comparable in speed to the last version.

I've no idea how fast, but definitely faster than any normally setup villain(mildly modified) and I would go so far as to say, it's the fastest electric jet I've ever seen. It's to the point where at WOT I've got to be really careful, she starts rocking at times and the steering is a bit sensitive. However, she goes like a bat out of hell.

Anyway, I dont have nearly enough time to edit the videos today, so there going up the way they were shot. Unfortunately, I had no camera person today, so theyre stationary. Since you tube is so slow, here's the link to my channel should be a few hours. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=quicksiler Hopefully in the next few days I'll get a real video up.

yeah, my batteries I was running must have been horrible. These IB's should get even better after a few runs, right? It really was scary fast, scary as in please dont flip..... please dont flip. I'm interested to see what happens on calm water, this was pretty rough and the ski boat in the background wasnt helping at all.
                  btw direct links to videos

new video....slightly better, have realized now, that since the area I'm at is shady the video comes out a bit dark.

Also, had to swim for it today, took on about a 1/2 cup of water and got the receiver wet, admittedly I should have taken her in to drain water, I was a bit distracted playing with the real jet ski way out(couple hundred feet) and yeah never swim for a boat, but I wasnt alone, however I realized I havent swam in a while.

I see how someone could find themselves drowning if they went out too far. For some reason, lol you tend to jump right in the water without any regard for safety when your $600 boat is sitting out in the lake dead, for what at the time could be any reason, including a short or electrical fire.

Lesson learned I'm buying a raft.

QS....remember safety is no accident. If you are ok about going in the water just get yourslf a PFD, even if you are using a raft I would still wear a PFD "just incase". I spend a huge amount of the time on the water competively sailing boats from 13'-60' and unless it is really calm I always wear a PFD. I want to be around for the next beer .

With that being said well done with the Villian, she is rocking now. Did you order the Krehler imperller direct from Germany?

                      Cheers,
                      Jim

i think he got the KBM impeller from the KMB drive he had (he used one on the billings jet boat....i think he broke something in the jet drive, so i guess he didnt mind taking the impeller from it...

yep my graupner impeller has been messed up for a while and my stator borke in my billings jet. It was a pain to put in. I had to heat the shaft with a torch and carefully remove the impeller. Then I I cut a villain drive shaft to length and epoxied the impeller on. Guess it was balanced pretty well.

ok I swear this is the last video for a while. :) Finally got some good lighting.

I've got some problems with a leak. Well a big problem. I tried taping the hatch over the already weather stripped seal. Duct taped the old cracks from my accident(just to make sure), tried letting the boat sit in the water. nothing....even tried powering up the boat while holding it, well could only get to half throttle, I seriously cannot hold this thing, try to take my arm off and this is with the nozzle out of the water.
I have a feeling since it never did this before that I have a high pressure leak, when at full throttle. Since the water cooling comes from the pump(I put the pick up in the nozzle). I imagine at 32,000 rpms this thing put out quite a bit of pressure. I'm going to try testing it in rubbermaid container where I can let the boat jump expel on to the ground. It's got to be the problem. I get like a cup of water in one minute.

ok, yep hypothesis correct. cooling line leak on one of the brush coolers. only happens above 3/4 throttle. gonna need some zip ties. that was a bit messy :)
