    Hull pairs for BJ 26

    Hey Guys,
Cracked the side of my bj26 hull. Was wondering if repairs are worth it/possible? Or if i should just replace the hull compleately. If so, what would i need and how would i go about repairing it. Never done fiber glass before but im pretty sure i can figure it out.. Any suggestions would help.
    thanks-

If that's all that's wrong it's an easy fix. Pull the foam out and get some fiberglass and epoxy it should be a 10 min fix not counting drying time. If your near San Diego I'll repair it for you.

Another San Diegan? Where do you run your boats?

That's not far from SD. Repair it from the inside and if the crack on the outside crack bothers you either fill it and sand it up or put a sticker over it and forget about it.

If I was you though I would fiberglass along the entire seam along the inside of that hull cause it will more than likely crack again on the part you don't fix. It should be pretty easy to do.

They are usually there every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and more often than not Sunday!

Javier, If that crack doesn't leak, you may just be able to epoxy it. It doesn't look bad.

i think i might be able to do that. have to do some water tests just to be sure. so would i just go over the crack with some epoxy and sand it down if the crack doesnt leak?

Apply the epoxy from the inside. Along the area of the crack and then some. Then a small thin line to the crack on the outside. If it doesn't look good after that, sand and repaint the outer area. But I think you won't have to if you're careful.

well the crack sure did leak so i think im going to have to fiberglass it from the inside. do i have to remove the 2 pices of balsa that run along the seam or do i fiberglass over it? also what grit sand paper should i use to sand the outside?

Ok. Do both sides of the crack touch? If so, just fill it in with epoxy. From the pic, it doesn't look that bad. Fiberglass will definitely make it stronger, but it doesn't look like you'll have to go that route, looking at the pic. As far as sand paper, you'll need to start with a 400 grit then 600. That should be good enough.

both sides of the crack do touch, but on the inside of the hull it has 2 pices of wood that run along the seam so would i remove those to fill in the crack or do i just epoxy over them?
