    RCU Threads...

I just have to ask this question, weather i'm in trouble for it or not (sorry in advance to anybody that I am offending...)

It seems like whenever I go on that site and try to help out another fellow boater (following the very FIRST post), The car/boater guys will wait till someone answers and try to slam the first reccomendation down!!! WTF!!! I know I am not the only person on here that feels this way...

OSE never feels like that to me...

Could it be that car guys are jealuse of boaters because they can't cool their motors and ESC like we do? Who is RCU and are you 2 timing us at OSE? Only kidding!!

You should adopt my solution - just don't even go there.

I have seen this type of topic before, and it has usually been between here and RRR. Often as the result of a member getting the wrong end of the stick and kicking off before trying to settle it in a seemly and gentlemanly manner.

Us kiwis and the aussies do read things differently and at times can get the wrong idea. I have done it myself.

This time it is a little different.
Kent (Hotwater) was giving a new guy a hand with a rigger setup, he was ridiculed on a variety of points and the "resident expert" would not see reason.

I too politely offered assistance to the OP and was subsequently slammed by the "know all"

I chose to sit back and watch and this was clearly written in my post.

The "purple-headed fellow"came back with what I can only describe as a tirade of shiate, and not even well written, Just a rant !!
I was doing ok untill I got to the bit where it was a clear personal insult to me.

I replied in a very short and sharp yet polite manner.

          I walked away.

Kent and I have PM each other on this issue and I'll stand my ground now.
No more RCU for me.....end off.

As with 90%+ of the time Jay has got it right. Just stay away.

For what it is worth, there is no hiding anyway. I use here the most and trot over to RCG and RRR for more every few days.

I go to RC Groups a lot but mainly for the battery forums. I was a mod on RC Universe for years in the Heli forums and I finally gave up because of all the 12 year old know it all's giving their expert advice. I have learned over the years that Multi format forums are good for B/S/T and that is about it.

RCU is no good, I agree and it's dying as well.....a slow death. Of course it's no different than the KGB Red board in my opinion.

RCU is populated by newbies and inexperienced 'experts'. It's a total waste of time. RRR also has its share of users that like to stir up trouble.

I prefer OSE because most of the members are polite and very helpful and yes....very knowledgable! RC Groups isn't too bad either. But OSE is by far the BEST.

There was another forum called the RTR Zone. It too was great but it was shut down by the owner.

The only thing I use rcu forums for is help with plane info. For boating it's useless. OSE is the place to be to get all the help you need!

The've got a boat "know it all" over there?? Aww man, if I was still an online predator, I'd go over there and make him feel and look like a muskrat when he's called out on how many SAWS records, or electric national events he's placed top 3 in, or even attended.. NOT THE CASE ANYMORE, You won't catch me dead arguing with some putz about how to set up a rigger, or what product sux or how someone acted at a race

Notice the real fast guys like Brian Buass, Chris Harris, and especially Doug Twaits rarely even post, and when they do its in a modest, concise manner..

As much as I like to post, I opt nowadays to be like the fast guys. Heck, time spent on here could be time spent on the bench, and that will limit ones effort, or even care to bother with such nonsense.. Arguing online dosen't get you a trophy, SURE as heck dosen't get you sponsored, and dosen't in any way make my boats faster, so I have no time for it..

I use RCU for the AMA forums, pattern and IMAC forums and that is about it. The rest is a wasteland. Even the above forums can be a problematic.

I have found RCG to have many of the same issues. In the battery forum there is one "resident expert" who is viewed by most as their go to guy. If he says it then it MUST be true. But then again that forum is mostly populated by people trying to figure out why their $12 3S 2,100 mAh China pack puffed after charging it at 5C.

I agree. It is insane. I have seen guys ask simple questions and get flamed by 5 or more people to read the thread. I think the SV27 thread is up to 183 pages. There was one idiot that seemed to monitor my posts. I would answer someones question, and he would counter with something else that made, in most cases, no sense. Recently, I've noticed this same chuckleheaded tooth-fairy ask basic boating questions. I'm a very passive non-aggresive kind of guy (linebacker sized) but this guy made me want to pull him out of his mother's basement, stick his head in a washing machine, to wash his greasy head, and send him to work in his job of expertise. As a fry cook at Mcdonalds. I haven't posted there in awhile. He's someone else's problem.
