    Rigger Building

Iam really wanting to build a rigger. But i have never built a kit. So iam a noob at this. And i have some questions:

    1. What would be the best rigger to start out with? The Riggid Insanity or Renagade? And where could i get the Renagade? Ive seen some good build threads with this boat.

    2. What tools are needed to build a wood kit?

Bascially anything you guys think would help me out would be really appreciated! Hoping this will lead to building bigger and better boats in the future that i dream about building. Why not start young?

    Thanks

for a wood kit the most used tool (for me) is a sanding block and a stack of sand paper. a fine tooth saw and miter box also come in handy .

For the Renegade, don't forget the Foam safe CA glue.

I think it'll depend on wat kit you get, but Rex is right,
sanding block/paper is always used regardless off the kit.

The renegade is a fun little boat but it is LITTLE, the rigged insanity is a better buy in my mind, well put together and good value for money. I do not think it is breaking any records but for a first build and an insight into the world of wood boats a great thing!
        Just my opinion

I agree with andym...I have built them both and the Insanity is a good choice, but on the other hand, the Renegade will be alot cheaper parts wise if you don't have very much of anything yet...and the Renegade is fast and fun for it's size!

The Insanity will teach you a little more about setting up and tuning a rigger.

Both have been outstanding to build!!

Kent- Is the 1st pic a size comparsion between the Insanity and Renegade?

How can i get ahold of the manufactuer of the Renegade? How much is it?

Iam really looking for a rigger to base a spec class that i wanna create with my LHS. We mainly just go out and boat on the lake. No real racing. But i wanna offer a spec boat thats cheap. Wanna do a 6-cell stick NiMH/19T Brushed class. Cheap, but still fast.

Has anybody built the BBY 4-8 Cell Rigger? For $49 each, it sounds really promissing.

The first pic is a comparison...The Insanity is a 26" rigger and the Renegade is a 13 1/2" (16" from front of sponsons to the end of the bullet nut on the propshaft)

The Renegade is made for a Thunder Power 3S 1320 pack (although the 1350 to 1500's can be used as well), Castle Creation Phoenix 25 ESC and a Mile High 2600KV brushless outrunner motor. I'm not sure that there is a class for that rigger....Hopefully there will be one soon!

The Rigged Insanity uses the SV27 motor/ESC combo, the Aqua Craft UL-1 motor/ESC combo or you can run a Neu 1515 1D motor in it. I run 2S2P 5000 Enerland lipos in it (12 NIXX cells can be used with a 700 sized motor). I also use the Speedmaster strut and Mini rudder setup with a .150 cable...You can run this rigger in a spec class...N2/FE1 or P/FE2 Hydro

The Renegade kit is offered for $89.00 with the outrunner motor (which is very good to buy with the kit). You can buy the hardware pkg. here on the OSE site.

The Rigged Insanity and hardware is also available on OSE....

I don't know about the BBY rigger, but I do know that Randy is very well known for his rigger designs.
