    timing for the neu motors

    Hi there guys
I have just joined the forum from the uk and was wondering if you could help me
I have brought 2 15/12 2Ds for a cat and was looking for some advice on timings for these motors.
I have used 2 pole motors in the past but having recently used 4 pole motor in a 3s rigger set up at 25o timing and found it runs much more efficent I have decided this is the way to go with my sports /saws cat.
I have no experiance of the neu motors other than what I've read on the forums and was hopeing someone could help

    the set up is smiths cat by Lindenau 770mm 2 15/12 2Ds 2 5s lipos 2 120 YGE ESC on 641 H&M props

    Thanks, Nigel

Welcome Nigel. Here is all the info you need.

"D" motors should always use the lowest advance settings.

        Hi nautiboyz
thanks for your quick reply and the links
I'm glad I asked as I would used a higher timing point than that
Would there be a chance of damageing the motor if I had got it wrong ?

Nigel, I'll defer that question to more knowledgeable board members as I am still a relative newbie. About the only think I could qualify as an expert on is burning up speed controllers.

Another thing to note is the PWM frequency It says for use with the Castle controller "the lowest settings work well with all Neu motors 11/13KHz". My Etti 150 has a default setting of 16K but has an option of 8K. I switched my setting to 8K with no noticable negative effects. I would be interested to hear what other Etti/Neu owners are are using for their PWM options.

Off Topic: Peter, I pride myself on clean builds, but your Sniper is a work of art. Congratulations! All those Sniper videos inspired me to pull out my wallet last night and buy the last Sniper hull Steve had available.
