Newbie Needs Advice For Villain Mods

if your willing to spend the cash, a toysport cat will get you there (500 for hull and hardware:D )

although, i would suggest you buy a rigger, but it takes alot to get them to run right...

50mph on water is very different than 50mph on land...if you want to get anywhere close to 50mph youd better be ready to invest a couple thousand dollars into it...

I've broke the 50mph mark with a Toysport Triton, not including batteries with less than $800 invested. That does include the radio.

My Syncron is doing about 45 and it was not a few thousand dollars.

Rcslotced, if your not in a hurry on the mods, now that we have access to a private pond, our local hobby shop is becoming very interested in getting a informal club started, with the EV gone the villan will more than likely be the next cheap hull for us, as a base fun class, Expect low 40s on 12 with a single brushed 800 motor.
To make a long story short, if your interested Ill share our mods to the hull but it will be a few weeks.

yeah, if i were to mod a villian, i would go with one big motor like what doozie explained. that way you dont have twice the amount of compounets to get working or diagnose if a problem ever evolved. its just easier i think.

RCSLOTCED You will have more fun with 30 to 35 mph. 50 takes alot of setup knolege , tuning and money. If you insist on a build for your first brushless boat start simple and witha medium sized hull. The Aeromarine Raider @ 25 inches would an easer setup and offer speeds around 40. The Titan @ 29 inches is also an excellent hull and will reach your 50mph requirment...but is right @ home in a beginner setup with lower speeds. Both boats can be setup for under 500 dollars. The Titan can be upgraded as you learn. Of course you can get on the water fast with a SuperVee. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Great Mini Van burnout Mike A! The Toysport Triton seems like a great boat, I will seriously consider it. I've done some more reading and after serious consideration I'm thinking that I should keep it basic until I learn more. I've also thought about my local water conditions. I have a park flyer type RC Plane and I can rarely find a day calm enough to fly it, windy here a lot (Chicago suburbs) and I'm thinking that a hydro may really limit me on avail days I can run, with rough water conditions, etc. Doozie I am definitely interested in the mods you speak of, where are you located? Are you referring to running just one motor in the Villain? Single motor, single prop?

Thanks SJFE (Tom). Starting to think that 30 to 35 mph is good for awhile. I need to learn more and work my way up. Figure I should play with the Villain, mod it a reasonable amount and then start building something more advanced this winter. I'm really liking the looks of the Toysport.

i think that doozie means to run one motor in the villian with one prop. it would be much cheaper to do and easier since u dont have to work on 2 drive systems. Yeah about that mini van, thats not mine (wish it was though), i just thought that it was really cool because it has a 4 cyl. turbo motor in it.
