    Slooooow Renegade.

So, I tested my renegade rigger yesterday. 400df outrunner, phoenix 25 with pistix. EC power 3s 1500 mah, and y531 prop. Started out o.k. Not as fast as I expected. Around 30mph im guessing. About 1 minute in it lost 80% of it's speed. Brought it in. Everything checked out ok. Warm temps. No noticable binding in the driveline, Prop still good. Threw in a fresh batt and same deal. About 15 mph. Is this an esc programming issue? Cant seem to get it into prog. mode since it's originally a plane esc. Oh, also using tactic 2.4 ghz. Anyone got any ideas? I'm puzzled!

Oh, It doesn't seem to be getting full revs in the water. Kinda like it's got no torque. Out of the water it'll spool up just fine.

Sounds like a battery to me. Every time that issue has happened to me, (never with a renegade though) it has always been the battery at fault.

Kinda what I was thinking. Voltage checks out, but I'm gonna try a new battery anyhow

Also, be sure you have the proper gap between the dog & strut.
but you probably knew that already.
Can you post a pic of your strut angle & depth please??

          Thanks

I'll get pics up asap. I'm gonna do the process of elimination, starting with the esc. I've got another 25 amp esc i'll try out. If that's not it, i'll have to wait till my new battery comes in. Ran today, with the same issues. It's odd, cuz at first it's pretty quick, then it slowly loses speed. Even on the next run, moments later, on a fresh pack it was super slow. Makes me think it's not the packs.

I'm not familiar with that type of ESC & whether or not you can change the cell count & therefore the LV cutout. But...
I had a similar problem once, with a different ESC, when I forgot to change the cell count from 4s to 3s when I put a 3s pack in after running it on 4s the previous week.
It basically hits the low voltage cutout for 4s (12v if it is set at 3.0V/cell) while the 3s pack is nearly fully charged. (12.6V). At least that's what I put it down to.
Could this apply to your situation? Especially if it has a soft cutout in the ESC.
              Paul.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Thanks. Well, it's not the esc. I switched it out and same exact deal. So, I dug around and found a 20c 3s 2100mah lipo I have around. By no means would it fit in the boat, but I knew it was a good pack. plugged it in and, WOW!! Just blipping the throttle and I get waaaayyy more rpm's. So I guess Diegoboy was right! I feel better now! Just gotta go post a wtb ad for a battery or 2. I ordered one from HK, but I hate waiting sooo long for the shipping.
