Get the Octura couplers. I tried those set screw type and after two lost shafts I gave up on them. if you still want to use them, mark where the set screws touch the flex cable and add solder to that spot so the set screws have something soft to dig into.

Tightening has always worked for me. No need to glue.

which is a very good german glue ill check it in the morning...

reason i use this coupler is i milled the motor end to my specifications and then the flexi cable end wont grip

solder the end of the flex then file a flat spot on each side of the flex,if you dont do this its like not having a flat on the motor shaft

Rough up the end for half an inch and make some marks but dont have it smooth. The thing with set screws is the screw threads seem to wear and strip. The reason too, is i grease every run and i only do 1 run per boat, so i take it out and clean and store. The idea to solder the coupler end is good but i don't for that reason. Eventually i replace the cable which is a 2 minute job. I sand my cable so it is almost smooth but Jay Turner jumped all over me on that but i just consider the source there. In all my years have'nt lost a cable or even broke one but i don't run race boats or have boats that cost a fortune. Now if you feel it will occurr that you might break a cable, don't sand!
