Ok,
Got into things tonight, and found out the .062 wire didn't come loose from the hex, it actually snapped inside the flex hex. I also discovered that my stuffing tube is completely snapped in half where it passes through the transom. Assuming the broken tube caught the wire and caused it to snap. So the broken tube may have been part of my problem it couldn't have been doing good things to my boat.
Rethinking the driveline since I have to put in a new stuffing tube anyways.. may go back to flex instead of wire.
Either way, I'm going to need new prop shaft, really could use a better prop strut than my homemade job. I'm thinking a stinger strut, and the list goes on... so boat is going to be out of commission longer than I thought while I get the parts together and install. I won't get to test these theories for at least a week. So I think I'm going to start a thread in the Boat Building section just to document the boat.. I figure its good for a few laughs.. you guys will see what I mean when I post pics. The boat makes me think of when you see those flat black street racing bikes.. You know the thing goes like mad, but probably needs parts every other day: boat looks like hell but moves along pretty damn fast (when it works)
I will link from this chat to my new post once I get some pics up. Thanks again all for your help, and I will update as things progress.
Steven; thank you especially, for running this site, hell of a great store and forum that I'm glad I found.
and looks like I'll be putting another order in with you shortly.
