Well, i thought i knew what i was doing.
Maybe i do, but im just looking for an opinion and or help from someone else.
My Setup-
Sv27 hull
Sv Hardware
OSE trim tabs
OSE turn fin
ESC- SeaKing 180a
Motor- Feigao 12L
Batteries- 12 cells of 3700 GP, 12 cells of 3800 IB, 12 cells of 4200 IB, 16 cells of 3700 GP. All nimh.
Alright, so today was the first time out with the 180a controller and the 12L.
Ive had both items in the boat for over a month now and finally had time today to get back out on the water.
I put the boat in the water with two, six cell 3700 GP packs and a Prather 220 prop.
Boat MIGHT have ran 15mph.
I made a quick turn around and brought it back to shore, started messing with the programming of the esc process. Started bumping up the timing since that is about the only thing to temper with as far as programming this esc goes.
I bumped it up to 7.5 degrees and i noticed a very noticeable speed change. Jumped into the low 30's easily this time. Was happy but not happy enough. Brought it back in and check the temps. Everything was terrific as far as temps go.
I kept doing this process, ended up changing packs to me two, six cell 4200 ib packs. By the time i got done tinkering i had bumped the timing all the way up to 26.25 degrees.
IMO, boat wasnt hitting the 40's. Was quick, but not fast enough for what i had in mind with this set up.
I tried the boat with the Prather S220, a Prather 225, an octura x642 and an octura x440/3.
The 225 gave me very short run time with hot batteries. The x642 was slightly slower then the s220 while the s220 gave me the best run time and temps all around out of all of the props i have on hand. The x440/3 did nothing but cavitate for about 20 feet and was noticeably slower.
Ive turned off the lipo voltage cutoff settings and changed the running mode to forward only.
Something just does not seem right obviously.
My trim tabs are even with the bottom of the hull and so is my strut. My rudder is tucked. Basically, my hardware is good to go.
My stock power system was a rocket with the s220. Wishing i could get that back plus more with this 180a and the 12L.
All help, suggestions, tips and tricks are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
