    I'm talking about the can size, a 3650 vs a 3674
I don't think these motors would compare

      Can size isn't equal.

A Medusa 36-70 is about equal in size.
Power wise, I'd say the 8XL might match up to the 36-60-2000.

Well it would be nice to have those numbers as well for future comparisons but the 8XL is completely irrelevant in this comparison. Its no wheres near the power output, efficiency or size of the Neu or Medusa. Although, it might pull some amazing numbers. It wouldn't be able to use the same test as the others, a different prop would have to be used as on 4s it would exceed the max RPMs by far on the prop.

I would be happy to bench one under the same conditions but just don't have one , the 10XL is 1668kv that would be a close match Kv wise . this bench test was to see how one compared to the other in holding a specific load

Why not something like a 10 or 11xl..Something with similiar kv ratings at least. I had an 8xl, and really was not to impressed. Got hot for what it was in a small hull for that matter. Mike

I think it's telling that everytime a comparison takes place, it's "X-Brand_New_Cheap_Super_Motor" vs. Neu...

Everyone tries to knock you down when you're on top...

Good to have competition and choices out there, though... Thanks for posting the data. Keep the comparisions coming...

I think that this comparission with the medusa vs neu kinda proved that the Neu is not really better. Just my 2 cents.

                      This I have to say

Darin this test was sparked from yours and Curts motor debate a while back and my curiousity also , I still stand by by Neu's since they power most of my models

The Neu is still a smoother running motor you can barely feel it in your hand , the Medusa on the other hand could use a bit more balancing . both brand new run side by side but one must survive the test of time , would be interesting to do the test again after a season of running

                        I couldn't agree more.

The 36-60-200 Medusa I had was a strong motor and easily powered a E-Revo on 4s to 50mph. My complaint was the roughness as it ran. It did seem to vibrate quite a bit. This may be a contributing fact to why they are having problems with their bearings going as well.

I have to agree, once you go Neu, its hard to compare up to it. However, I do encourage the competition and newer entries to the market. It helps us, the consumer, with prices as well as quality.

                          Peter,
I appreciate the bench comparison of the two. It helps those who do not own a Medusa to give them some consideration. As a new company in the business they have not had the number of years to refine as neu but out of the shoot they are going to continue to get after the competition. Power wise they are there and for $100 less. Give them 6-7 years as neu has and I will guess they will be right there in EVERY area and still be a good buy. Indeed this is a good start in the comparison. Now let that power get to the water for some more tests.
I am in the middle of gas boat season and have a cat and a mono to keep up with in open class.
Again, tnks Peter, and hope those with the medusas will give us some additional info as they are run.

                          Curt
