I've run my Drifter S with an 8XL / Hydra 240 and a X642 for over a year on 4S 2P
4100 30C Neu batt's. Close [ 59.1 GPS] to 60 MPH. Watch temps after 2-3 minutes. Highly entertaining turns, er, barrel rolls at speed

foam inserts around the hatch shaft is perfectly water-tight + hatch tape
I'd pin the front of the hatch. If you're looking for high speeds, you may suck the hatch off in a flip, taped or not. I sucked a hamburger-sized patch of gelcoat off the hatch at a race at Kaiser Cove ; the hatch would've come off without the pin [ a small rivet]. All my hatches are now pinned or otherwise secured.
Here's another easy hatch-securing technique : a garage door opener belt-clip epoxied to my DF 33 hatch. The dark area on the hatch is the repair to the same gelcoat-ripping event that happened to the Drifter. Saved the boat, for sure ! [Water gets hard and abrasive at high speeds, trust me !]
