No difference when turning the throttle trim knob. This build is kicking my ass, 4 months, 4 different setups and 300 plus bucks. There has to be a reason why it doesn't work as I have triple checked everything. I need to find an RC guy to do a hands on thing as I just don't get it but don't know one.

It could also be that there isn't enough drive in the rx to power the LED in the opto isolator, or that the frame rate is outside the "legal" ranges. Flashing red indicates no valid signal.
If you want to send me the tx, rx, and ESC I will find and resolve it for you.
If you have an oscilloscope you can tell me the frame rate and signal amplitude with the ESC attached and detached. That will help a lot.

Well, Jacobo, there are probably quite a few of them available if you post requests on the various boards. Put a note on the swap shop here, on Rum Runner, RCGroups, and RCUniverse. Most guys have moved to brushless power, so you might find them for sale.

Andy: I found an RC guy, my wifes, bosses husband and talked to him tonight. He says he has a lot of receivers, both 2.4 and crystal kind that we can try since it sounds like you suspect the receiver. It is the bottom of the line. I'm meeting him tomorrow evening and will let you know what we find otherwise, I will take you up on your offer. Thanks for the reply, BrianComment

Jeff,
If it's that million bucks in gold bullion that I left in your car, yeah, go ahead and send it. E-mail me otherwise.
Brian,
Sounds like a plan. With the 2.4's, they need to be the same technology (brand name) as the transmitter you use. Keep me posted, I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

Andy: The prognosis is not good. I'll try and formulate a coherent sequence of events. This evening we tried first an ESC that he had with my receiver, worked fine. Tried a fm crystal type trans/rec with the Victory and still the same thing and then he broke out a Spectrum DSM2 (I think) receiver/transmitter and still had that annoying blinking LED. I'm guessing the ESC is bad but as I type, I did not check for a high resistance open at the connector but after many plug/unplug, I would think that would show up. I'll check that in the AM. Thanks, BrianComment

It may be fixable. I have Spektrum myself so I can try that too. I know with a Spektrum you can have it in a super dooper mode with a high refresh rate that the Victory doesn't recognize by default, but it can be set to accept.
If the ESC works with some receivers, it sounds like its just the frame rate, and I can configure the ESC to accept it.
