    Summer/Turtles/Kickup rudder

Mornin' gents, I just wanted to make a suggestion..
Summer is here, and many lakes ponds and slow moving streams here in the US are
    colonized by turtles..
The gorgeous daylight hours that we like to see rooster tails glisten in the sun are the ideal basking time for these magnificent creatures, so please, install kickup rudders or modify your existing one unless you want to rip the transom off your boat
It can in many cases be as simple as removing a bolt from your rudder pivot bracket..

That is all I run. Or you can use the plastic lower bolt so it breaks but I just tighten my upper so I can kick it up with a little force.

Against the law now in MO to shoot these nasty varmits. We used to sit on my deck at the lake and shoot them off the logs at the back of the cove with a scope and 22 cal. I must have shot 200 over the last 25 years.

There are tons of turtles in my test pond, but they seem to dive down before I hit them. Carp on the other hand....I've hit 3 now. The score is now Meniscus 3, carp 0 and one KO for the one that was cut clear in half by the turn fin. LOL!

You just need to drag a line behind so you can hook those carp when you hit them.

Not to hard to shoot a turtle sitting on a log. When I was young we went to the dump at dusk and shot rats running in and out of the garbage.

On the log was easy but needed to get rid of some.

We also would sit on the deck and wait for them to pop their little heads up. Not easy at 40 yds with a small scope...but fun!

Yes, My aunt in Hermann always fixed some turtle soup. Mostly like veggis soup but with meat of snapping turtles.

Maybe you all do not know what a snapping turtle is. Most larger ones can snap a 3/4" stick in half. Mean as hell too hiss and get after you when you make them mad! Had one in my garage last year from a pond bear my house. I did not kill it.
