    Not so fast Silver Rocket

I have a RTR (QiDa?) Silver Rocket, 36" deep V with a brushed 540 motor, 7.2v 1800mAh nicad and flex drive. Without getting a "real" real radio and receiver and going to a lipo/brushless motor and esc, how can I get more speed out of this 15-20 mph toy?
2 battery packs @ 14.4v? Will that cook the "receiver" or other components?

Yes it will ruin the electrics. The wires in those are usually very thin. There really isnt much to be done unless you change to a esc, receiver, motor. More like a normal setup. For now I would say run it and have some slow fun but in the mean time start ordering you parts. Going fast costs money. Not always a ton of money but that is why the boat you have was most likely around 50/60 dollars. The RTR range that cant be beat is still the SV27, proboat blackjack, and the UL-1 hydro from aquacraft.

I started off with a super hawaii and switched the motor to a 540 feigao, got an ok esc and replaced the batteries for better nicd cells. Didn't cost much money but the difference was great.

Boatman, Matt C, thanks for the advice. This is a fun electric as it is but I think I will tweak it a bit. I will be ordering those parts soon. Thanks for your help.
