    driveline slack

How much gap are you guys leaving between the drive dog and the strut? I am running a 150 cable on 2.5 hp. How much does the cable shorten under this much power?

depends on what cable you run.
if its a hughey then i would leave about 1/6 of a inch . maybe just a bit less.
if its a h&m flex then leave 1/10 th inch of a gap.

Newbie here but would'nt the length of the cable come into play as well? I would think that a cable that is 12" long would "shrink" twice as much (or close to it) as a cable that is 6" long?

      Cheers,
      Jim

I like to leave about 3 mm space between the dog and strut. Haven't had any problems.

            Octura cables

Thanks, Driven, that is about 1/8 of an inch. Suggestions are 1/6, 1/8, and 1/10 or 2, 3 or 4 mm.

I am using a 10 inch, 150, Octura cable that Steven sells. I wish there was a way to calculate flex shrinkage.

Ok, thanks guys. I will use the 1/8, 3mm gap on octura cables.
