Feigao 540 L

ok, i just bought a drifter s for £150 got the hull shaft strut rudder and a 40mhz micro receiver + servo


ive got a AS26-150BL esc i can use... for another boat but it's all i got at the moment and since the other thing isnt built yet i might aswell use for now



i was planning on 'copying' a set up ive seen before; basically a 540 12L on 5s with and octura x442 prop

but i was told a feigao 540L only went up to 4s? i would like to run on 5s it will be water cooled

the 540xl is not a option as its 5mm too long to fit

i just want to know if a 540L will be ok on 5s... if not its gonna be a hacker motor or a lehner going in good job i dont pay for all this

the drifter S wil fit a XL with ease.
my drifter S is running a 8XL on 4s

but i would never run a L motot on 5s. 12XL on 5s sounds more like a plan.

unfortunately the motor mount came already glued in... but i suppose i can buy a xl try it and if not

cant you borow one first and se if it fits ? maybe a local club or something ?

i made a cardboard cut out which was about the same size put double sided sticky tape on it and it stuck to the lid when i tried to shut it but ill order 1 and see what happens

but do you need to run 5s ?
a L motor on 4s wil move that boat pritty good as well.

got 8 kokam 5s 5000mah 30c battery's which cost a considerable amount of cash and im trying to run as many things as possible off them i suppose 2 4s' wouldn't be the end of the world :| but ill try and fit a xl motor in 1st

guess you can use a L motor. but i would go higher then 12L.
but i think some of the guys on here would know that better then me :)

sorry... but would it actually take 5s i know like the graupner motors said 9,6v on them but they operated from 7,4v to 16v ish im pretty contempt on using 5s and if not 12L what would u propose ?

12l= 2084kv... 5s would kill that motor in less than a few runs if the esc dont go first...

My SV with a 12l on 4s with an m447 is pushing the heat..

If u want to go for 6s, use lower kv motor like 12xl 1390kv like I use on my drifter s y'day with hydra 240A, prather 220(43mm). Here is the video, sorry for the poor quality video...enjoy

you CAN use 5C on a 12L. but that dont meen you should.
thats 40 000+ rpm on fresh batteries and i realy think that is pushing it way over the limit.
if you have to use 5C on a L motor you should atleast go for the 14L so you might keep it for more then 5 runs.
