    New to boats.

Hey guys, I am not sure if I put this in the proper section or not.

Anyways, my name is Matt and I am from alberta canada. For quite a while now I have wanted a brushless catamaran. I have been doing some searching on the forums here and have found some good info, but have lots yet to learn. If you guys have any tips or suggestions for a first timer that can't handle being slow, let me know. Currently I own a brushless sand rail that I built the chassis for, and a 2.2 rock crawler that I am in the middle of building a jeep tube chassis for. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the link! However I should also note I am looking for something between 32-36", and run it on something between 4-6s. There is lots of used stuff in the classifieds, it's just trying to determine what is good and what is not.

I havn't decided yet, however I am not expecting it to be cheap. In your opinion, what would be an average price for a cat that can do roughly 50mph with decent parts? Strictly looking for a ballpark here. I think for my first boat I will go with a used hull.

I'll guess (used & RTR) $450 without shipping

That is about what I expected. I will have to do some digging around here and see what is a good hull, what to stay away from, all that good stuff.

Well I am hearing a little bit about these mean machine hulls, and that some have been "water damaged" and are being sold for cheap?

I do apologize for all the noob questions, but HOLY CRAP there is a lot of info to take in.

Welcome Matt. Dang that is funny Danny

It would appear that you have very good build skills to do a sand rail and have RC time under your belt. Excellent.

There is a huge amount of info here as you have found and we are keen to share. I learn something everytime I log on here which, as the locals know, is daily.

There are some very talented Cat runners here and some who know thier way around 6S setups. I can help as far as 4S and 30"
After that you will have to wait for more experienced guys to wade in.

                      Cats are cool
Big cats are Waaaaaay cool !!

As Danny said, when you have an idea of what you want then post it up so others may provide advise.
                      See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

I have had 3 Vipers. Still have the third. I don't think I will EVER have a fleet without one in it. It's a GREAT boat. I'd snatch up that one if I had the funds.

Cats, you should look at....Mean Machine....H&M M1 supercat...H&M micro drifter...H&M intruder..... ToysPort Jolly

The Mean Machine is the best bang for the buck.
What radio do you presently own? and welcome aboard.
I trust that Fluid may join in as he has a heck of a lot of knowledge of cats and will give you, as a new boater, good information as to a suitable hull and your perceived budget

Thanks for the replies guys, even just turning me in the right direction helps a lot! Currently I don't have a radio. I have been putting it off for 2 years now and should probably snap one up. I'd probably go spektrum.
