    Best Brushless/ESC starter combo?

Anyone suggest some brushless/esc combo's they would say are good for starting into FE's?

Here's what I want to do with it: I'm in the process of building 2 cats from plans, one 36" and one 48". The 36" is more the test and find what I like/don't like. I am not all about getting to crazy speeds, but more realistic scaled speeds, and scaled look while going through the water.

I'd like something inexpensive for now, to use in the test 36" boat. From there, I can figure out what I like and don't like and move on.

So, that being said, has anyone seen any good deals on a decently powered brushless/esc combo? Even willing to use ebay/china products.

    Thanks!

Well, first off, that combo is good, but overkill. I'd probably consider that for my bigger boat I'm building, but I think it'd destroy the 36" boat.

The airplane motor... from what I've read, you don't want to use an outrunner due to its low rpm speeds.

Also, without some sort of cooling, it'll fry itself fast. On an airplane, it gets lots of air. In a boat, not so much.

Yeah, not really that interested in speed... more long runs. And I plan to make my boats heavy, so they have a more real look to them.

            Best Brushless/ESC

Hi, Best for a 36" cat woule be the UL-1/ESC/Motor at Offshore Electrics. A little
confused when you say you want scale looks but no speed. Offshore cats are
all fast. Hope you do not want a cat that goes 10MPH and looks good. Just a thought.
Photos of my scratch built 30" cat. Luck

Yeah, thats more what I'm talking about!

No, I'm not wanting this to go 10mph, but I'm not looking for 60+ or any speed records. I'd rather have a nice controlled 30-50mph at full speed.

nope , it has water cooling jacket built on ! inlet and outlet come out the back of the motor casing itself. im just not ready to get into brushless and lipos yet , thats why im trying to expierment with use aircraft rtf parts to start. i can still look though !
