    old hull info WTD

Got an old (circa 1990) electric bare hull sitting around.
Need to know if it might be worth the trouble & money to set it up & get it wet.
The hull is made by a company called "3D Models" of Port Huron Mi,
is some kind of FRP, clam-shell construction, and called "Tunnel Vision Electric".
It is @ 25" x 10", designed for inboard FE (according to the mimeo assembly/set-up drawing)
and resembles a tunnel hull more than a cat – no steps, very little deadrise & freeboard, shallow "angle of attack" ...

Anyone know anything about this hull or 3D Models ?

Any info or leads will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Geeze Steve......put me on the spot! 3D was in business in the 1980s with what were at the time cutting edge hulls. I have handled several of the various Demon mono hulls, they were great in the days of brushed motors and round cells. I watched Chris Fine use one of the large Demons to set a SAW record in NAMBA's T Mono class around 7 years ago. With today's power I don't know how they'd run.

The Tunnel Vision cat got some good press, but I never saw one run, or talked to anyone who had run one. 3D Models went out of business in the early 1990s IIRC.

            good info

            good info, thanks Jay.

Was it Tom Daniels, then, that was responsible for 3D ?
I recognize that name associated with the DEMON mono from years ago.

I know that Tom sold the Tunnel Vision but I do not know for certain that he designed it. The tunnel is very shallow, which could be problematic with high power/speed or rough water....blowovers like OPC experience are likely, but that's a guess. Those are the best photos I've ever seen of the hull, thanks.

Funny this thread came up about 3D Demon hulls...

I have a 24" "pancake" mono down in the basement. I was thinking about setting up and running N-1 mono with it. I had it for sale on here about a year ago... I wonder if I can find the pictures...

                Mike

                HA... I found it....

Demon: now there's a blast from the past !

Cool to see some pics of it, Mike.

Plans to set it up for N-1, eh ? ?
