I would recommendd a vise clamp to hold the deans firmly when your're working on it. Once properly done, the solder joint can be extremely strong. You don't have to grab the connector to unplug, just pull the wires to get them apart. I know this is not how you was taught in your TV's manual, it just works well here.

To make a strong solder joint on a Deans first tin the tabs but tin the edges & the back side of the tabs too.
Then tin the end of the wire liberally.
Hold the wire on the tab & place the tip of the iron on the wire.
When the solder melts, on both the wire & the tabs, remove the iron & hold the wire still until the solder 'sets'.
Like Himalaya said you can pull the plugs apart by the wires without them breaking off. If you can't, then the joints aren't good enough.
I've seen people glue a piece of 120 grit sandpaper to each side of the plugs to make them easier to grip with your fingertips & pull apart. Seems to work if you don't trust your soldering enough to pull on the wires.

      Cheers.
      Paul.

That's the way I do it. Great explanation Paul. Clear and concise.

I have used vice grips in the past to hold the Deans. Just attach and set on it's side.
