What is going on with my Neu motors?

I am not sure If I am doing something wrong or what but the 1515 1Y motors just don't seem to like me. I spent 90% of last season tuning my boat, and trying everything to get my 1515 1Y to be even as fast as a Hacker 7XL. I played with my Castle ESC settings so much it drove me crazy. I ended up sending the motor back to Neu and they sent me a brand new one. I only got to run the new motor 2 times at the end of last season and it was insane compared to the first one. I coudln't keep the boat on the water it was so powerful. This season I take the boat out for the first time and it is slow just like the first one was. I suspected the cells were going bad from sitting over the winter but when I tried my friends cells it was still slow. Again now this season I am playing with the Castle link trying to figure out what is different but now I am just stumped again. Is it possible that a 2 run old motor just lost its spunk already? My other Neu motors seem to be hauling the mail without a problem, run after run. This 1515 1Y is the newest style with the larger bearings and the pinned end cap, the first one was the older style. Anybody else seem to be having a problem besides me on this one??

I"ve been running a 1515 1y for a year now. Its still as good today as it was on the first run. It probably has 30 runs on it. Before the winter I took it out of the boat, oiled the bearings, and kept it in a warm dry place for the winter. Did anything else on the boat change ?

I decided to swap the motor out with a brand new Neu 1515 1Y today and its exactly the same. I am going to swap the controller out next and see if I can find the problem.

My first 1515 1Y ran great for over a year; two weeks ago it started to "spool down" for a longer time than before; probably the magnets began to lose their strength over time from heat. Then it just quit. It's back at Neu for replacement.

Yeaturday another one I got used ran fine for about 15 runs , not much prop load on my hydro, then TOTAL MELTDOWN, burned to a crisp & took out my Hydra 240.
Possibly caused by loose solder joint letting go of a wire and shorting out. Frustrating !

I would suspect the ESC... My 1515/1Y is 2 years old and running strong! Another club member has one in a Titan 29 and he has ran it fot over a year,, no problems..
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

Could the mags be getting some rust on them? I do know they will rust.

We've had the same experience for over three years now.

Sir I have no experience with Castles but I did watch a club member have a little hastle with getting his to go full throttle. One of the folks had a laptop on hand and helped him through the set up. It seemed to be a pain even with the laptop. Something about getting the the correct LEDs to light up.

I know that wasn't much help but maybe an idea to check for full throttle.

I am positive I am getting full throttle...at least that is what the ESC is tellingme because at full throttle the LED on the esc is on solid. At part throttle it blinks. I am going to swap the 120 out for a 240 that I have on hand for next weekend and see if the ESC is the problem. Something has def changed and its not my setup or prop. I put it away last season and it was a rocket, this season even with a brand new 1515 1Y it just isn't right.
