Ok my SV was running good until everything stopped. The NEW hydra makes sound but won't engage the motor, it just turns irregular. So i thought i fried the motor but i hooked up another motor, and same thing. The hydra goes into programming as normal and my servo works fine hooked up as BEC. I have Ammo 2300kv and 2 5000mah Lipos. Any suggestion?
is my Hydra 120 fried??

Do you have a Castle link for your computer? It could be the timing.
What prop were you running?
What do the caps look like?
Did you run this 120 in any other boat, even back 5-10 runs ago?IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

no i don't have the link. Prop is S220. What is Caps? The wrap of the hydra melted a bit.. I just ran with SV Twice.Comment

Caps = Capacitors
Looks like this:
Are they swollen, bulged, desoldered, or any other apparent damage?IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

The ESC BEC should not be used for 4S setups. Remove the Rx red center wire from the plug and use a different Rx battery source.
I know you said NEW 120, but there is a chance that it's still programmed with the OLD 1.03v software. I got 2 new Hydra 240's direct from Castle in April and both were loaded w/the old 1.03v software. I would recommend getting a Castle Link or using someone elses to verify your software version.
Also check all 3 of the motor to ESC connections. If one of them is bad, the motor will studder.
Does the ESC smell or have any visible burn marks? Melting the shrink is a definite sign it got hot, but now that it's not working right with 2 different motors...could mean it needs to go back to Castle.
For whatever reason, something isn't right with your setup. Could be ESC timing being way off, running too big of a prop for that motor (what prop are you running?), your boat running too wet, on/off throttle too much, friction in the driveline, etc.Comment

Way too much prop, if it is running wet especially. This is my mantra will you guys stop running silly setups and burning up a lot of equipment at the expense of newbies enjoying and entering the hobby

IMO the 220 prop is too much for a 2300 kv ammo motor. That prop is very close to an X645. OK for a stock SV motor, but not that ammo.
I would guess that an X438, X637 would be more appropriate for that Ammo motor until you can get some testing done and determine your amp draw.Comment

He doesn't have a stock setup - he is running an ammo 36/50/2300 a smaller motor with more rpm. I would think the motor would go first and maybe take the esc with it.
Edit: looks like others can type with more than 2 fingers - I still have to hunt and peck.IMPBA 20481S D-12Comment
