    soldering capacitors

    Can't get the solder to stick to the motor case???????

    I assume you are installing these on a brushed motor.

    Are you using solder flux and is you solder iron capable of heating a large area like the motor case?

      Yes,brushed motor.Using flux maybe the problem is the case is not hot enough?/I'll give it another shot.

        I use a 150 watt gun for this and if you use a bit of flux as Doby suggests it makes the job much easier.

          Just stating the obvious here but my modified 540s all had painted cases, you scratched the paint off before trying to solder right? My 40watt weller was up to the job on 540s and 700s.

            I agree with Paul , scuff up the solder point with a dremel or a small file some motor cases are plated also , should stick way better
