    600 sized heli motor

as a few people have run the Align Trex 600 motors in boats with success this might be worth a go, tis a large outrunner with a reasonable KV.

no doubt someone on OSE will test it for us shortly!

What size boat are you wanting to put it in? I got 4 runs on my scorpion 4035 800 in a challenger 43.

I would read the HobbyKing reviews first before ordering this motor.Seems there may be a QC issue surrounding the magnets at one time.

yup i wouldnt touch that motor...but the align 600xl is another story....I saw a video of a mean machine with two of these in it...the sound was awesome and the speed was ballistic....but I dont know how he water cooled them with the fined heat sinks on them

Outrunners are hard to be water cooled, a water jacket does nothing but add weight because the coils are deep inside around the shaft and has no direct thermal connection to the case.

Many succesfull setups out there using outrunner motors, note their boat size usually under 600mm, I wouldn't recommend outrunners for boats any larger.

Thanks Himalaya for your insight. A water jacket on an outrunner would spin and tear out the water lines among other things.

My Research tells me there are some Big outrunners available such as the Scorpion 4035/800 8 pole motor that will push a big hull for 60+ mph

Im guessing you havent seen the 1/7 scale classic hydros running the scorpion outrunners and doing round 50mph ? Im pretty sure that they arent cooled and dont run hot due to the massive amounts of torque they produce. Some of them are even running 120amp esc's because the current draw is not huge.

Also Ken Joye has a 41 inch ' ish sprintcat running the scorpion outrunner doing over 60mph.

Here is a vid of my challenger.

This was a conservative setup doing 36mph. I have hit 47mph with a different prop. I was pulling around 76 amps with this setup and 89 amps doing 47mph. I was using 8s1p 5000mah tp batteries.

Here you go. I got the motor mount from http://southriverrcboats.com/

I am using the Kontonik Power Jazz. Wish it was the water cooled version.

                    I run the 2 4s in a 8s config.

I tried the x447 for fun at 36mph and the x646/3 and got 47mph on one pass.

I am guessing you haven't had a Align Trex 600 motor, it has a fixed case which does NOT spin.

I ran mine in my monster truck ended up with letting the magic white smoke out.

Outrunners work best right behind the propeller in air models. But app in boats is worth a try, if you want, just remember two factors that for boats are very important but unfortunately for outrunners are born poor : [heat dissipation] and [torque twist]

Does anyone have any info on how the 600xl motor is an outrunner with a can that does not move? Does anyone have an exploded view diagram?
