You will be around 100 bucks by the time you buy every thing you need. If the Feigao meets your needs and is ready for marine use out of the box I suggest for you.
:p suuuure keep the good stuff for yourself:p leave us boaters with the "LOW" quality stuff! :p hmmm................ now were is the smiley face thats mooning people? Steve V, you need to add one of these to the site please!

I bought 2 of them, Allan reckons they're pretty good, as does Ernie Lazenby (see his comments on Astec Forum). However, 2 caveats. 1, I've yet to actually use one of these ESCs, and 2, they are physically quite large - so large I have to build a new rigger to take the new controller as my current hull doesn't have the space. If you're going to get one of these, I'd think about buying the programming card as well.

      Cheers,
      Paul

u can use conformal coating to make escs water resistant. the corrision x thats in the store can be used but it needs to be recoated every once in a while. castle uses silicon conformal coating on there escs which is different than the caulk from the hardware store. u can get some here http://www.web-tronics.com/electroni...-coatings.html

The dp270 goes on thick and woks with one coat. Dont cover the tops of fets. The spray is nice, but its thin like spray paint and doesn't always cover with the first coat.

I'm sure Allan from Astec isnt selling junk. My gripe was first the samples sent to me were not water proofed. Second the price. Allan has a hard time getting Castle Creations stuff over there so these are a good fill in for him.

I'm curious how you are "making them safe", care to share??

              Thanks,

Just a laborious process of water proofing.. Elaborate air, water cooling and just a little luck :)

Jeepers pm me I will be glad to give you details. I don't like posting links or promoting items ose dont stock in the open forum out of respect for Mr V :). I have been lucky to this point. Now that I am moving up in hull size it all may fall apart. Time will tell.

Please guys, if you use airplane controls, use them with a stick radio, or Pistix from RC Hydros.
To "FOOL" them into arming with trim on your pistol grip radio is NOT safe for you or anyone near you.

                    Doug :)

Thanks for the advice Mr Smock. I have yet to have a problem with the units I use. They are very friendly to my spektrum system.

                        No problem Mr. SJFE.
Can't be too careful. I've seen two runaways on Jeti 90s. One with a JR. and the other with a DX3. Both hulls destroyed.
Airplane controls are no longer allowed at the club without a stick radio or a Pistix.

                        Take care,
                        Doug

Just thought I would let you know my feigao 100 amp w/cooled esc performs great.9xl 5s lipo x642 prop 95 deg F. very smooth power curve and easy to program. I emailed aztec and they told me these esc are waterproofed but Steve at ose stated they were not. Well they are NOT sorry to doubt your word Steve. Not a big problem as a few coats of conformal acrylic coating and re wrapping fixed it but it realy sucks when a supplier states one thing and it is BULL*!***!***!***!**. So lift your game aztec models.

Glad its working out for you. I'm sure Allan would not lie about this. Allan's supplier probably told him they were water proof.
