no wonder its not going as fast as you expected, your only getting 20,000rpms...you should be using a 6S lipo so you can get 30,000rpms....

oh, and on the post before your previous one...running 2 2s2p's in parallel will gave you 7.4v but double the capacity, running them in a series will give you 14.8 volts but the same capacity

was just going to post the same results, Just set it up with a series adapter and oh boy its different.

thanks for all the advice saleens, so what would you the rpm's be if I installed a 8xl or 7xl?

      thanks

with a 7XL using 4s lipos, youll be getting 35,235.6rpms...8XL will be 30,843.2..you can find how many rpms your motor will get by multiplying the total voltage of the batts by the KV of the motor (i.e. 2084x14.8=30,843.2rpm)

i would suggest you use a 9XL in this hull....you may only get around 27,000rpms, (probably more like 24,000when under load) but the origional nitro motor in it probably got that same amount of rpms as well...

got the new KB 45 motor put in last night and ran the boat today and it was very fun to drive. Took a GPS reading and hit 44.5 with 2 2s2p lipos, KB 45 8xl and a x646 from Fine Design.

will change a few things and try again in the next few days

Glad to see the KB8XL pushed that big heavy TC31 hull to 44mph. I should get some good results with the Jolly on 16 nimh. Next week I will see:)/

wow, thats getting some good speed for that hull....once i get the SW running, maybe i should try the 1000KV one...

also, did you notice the motor vibrating at all? over on RRR people have said it vibrates and they had to balance out the rotor to get it to stop....

"People" Say things all the time. I bet the same people run 4&5 hundred dollar motors in their boats. I'll take a chance on vibration.

i guess i would chance on a 70$ motor rather than not to chance and spend a few hundred more $'s on a lehner or neu....

I noticed no vibration at all on the bench before I went out to the lake, once out there I saw nothing wrong except the dual rate was way to high on the servo I just put in for the steering and that was easy to fix. Boat ran well with this setup and I was very happy with it.

I got the coupler from Jeff Wohlt of of Rum Runners and it works great. It is a .187 to 6mm......

this boat may keep me interested until Steven gets more Jolly cats in stock. Hopefully get to go back to the lake tomorrow or maybe even tonight we will see........

It waited about 6 or 7 weeks for mine once I had decided it was the cat I wanted. After it came in I received it in 2 days:)

i am hearing good stuff about this motor , vibration or not i might have to look into it instead of a fegiao, big motor with big torgue maybe i will not have to run that many cells to get the same speed

Steveo, your estimate is spot-on. I converted my TC31 to brushless with a 13XL on 6S lipo through a Etti 150A ESC and got 37mph with a P215 prop running at max 130deg F. Now I'm waiting for a S220 prop to get it to 40mph hopefully without it getting
