Pool noodles are a common flotation item used

How much room do you leave and is it water proof?

I tried some Dap tex plus, in my MM and the water took it all out!
and the can says Superior Water Resistance!

I use the packing foam from Network Servers. I just cut the shape I need. It's almost the same as pool noodles, only stiffer. At least it looks the same. It has proven to be waterproof and floats very well.
