Hextronic esc, stick or pistol?

I gotta hold of a hextronic esc and want to use it with a futaba 2 channel Am tx. I plugged it in and it wouldnt respond until pushed trigger to full reverse. then as I pulled trigger it speeds up. I reversed channel and it just does opposite. Do I need to use stick controller or am I not setting something right. I can program it but that is not one of the options.

well, nevermind. I hooked it up through my heli 6ch stick tx and it works fine. Ive heard of people using thiem with pistol but maybe they use the pistix adap.
