A lipo's amp rating ability question

Ok, Say I have (2)- 5000mah, 20c , 4s1p battery packs. I know that if I take those 2 packs, connect them in parallel, that I will get a 10000mah pack setup...BUT, will my amp rating of 20c x 5000mah= 100amp discharge...change as well to 20c x 10000mah=200amp discharge ability or does it still stay 100amp? I hope I explained the situation correctly! Thanks, Mike

Each pack (1P) will give you 100A, so if you connect them in parallel (2P) you will have 200A.

That's actually the reason the NAMBA rules allow 2P. At the time, it was the only way to safely run the cells (parallel) to be able to get adequate power. You could usually run 2 heats on a pack since you didn't need the 10KmAH for duration, just for cell protection.

With the improved cells available today, there isn't such a drastic need.

That is excellent news actually. I am glad I ordered 4 of those packs now. Having that extra padding will be very nice.
