    Motor Timing - Anyone know?

In order to get the ultimate performance out of a motor, you need to know the timing so you can program it into your ESC. Unfortunately, none of the manufacturers seem to give us that information?

I know that generally, inrunners will have LOW, or 1 to 5 degrees advance (I think) but that isn't always true.

Does ANYONE know if there is a published table of timing values of various motors anywhere? If not, this would be a great project for someone with the time. It would probably involve contacting the various manufacturers and asking the question. Problem is, for a lot of the cheaper stuff out there, they won't know the answer!

Also need to know the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) values!

Well after a little web surfing, I found some info for Neu motors. (Sorry if this is already common knowledge)

      From their web site:
      http://www.neumotors.com/Site/FAQs_%26_setup.html

Settings for “other than Castle” brushless ESCs:

      1) 11XX, 15XX and 22XX series of motors are all 4 pole designs. 19XX series are 8 poles and the 44XX series are 12 poles.

      2) Use low (0-10 degrees)or medium(10-15 degrees) advance settings for “Y” wind motors and low (0-10 degrees) advance settings for “D” wind versions.

      3) Brake settings are up to the user and application.

For most uses the low advance setting is best—motors have better efficiency. “Y” wind motors can use medium advance for a little more power or speed. “D” wind motors should always use low advance as there is no improvement with higher advance settings.

PWM frequency –the lowest settings work well with all Neumotors 11/13KHz

I may try bumping up the ETTI 150 timing on my 1515 1y from 2 to 7 degees . Anyone try this??? Are you Castle ESC guys running low or normal timing with your Neu "Y" motors???

Medusa Research reccomends the following for their motors...
Taken from their website "For the best efficiency, your ESC should be setup with 8º to 15º advance, and a switching rate of 10 to 20kHz. The above motors have 4 poles."

In my Pickle I have a 1509 Y with a Hydra 120 (I think it is an X440 prop). When I first got it, the 1.03 version of the software had an "issue" where pretty much every setting gave you 16.25 degrees of advance. I upgraded to 1.04 and haved tried a variety of settings but have come back to the original ones in 1.03. The boat runs fastest this way and doesn't get very hot - even after a full 5 or 6 minute run. It is only 2s, though.

1.04 had some issues I heard and lots of people have gone back to 1.03.
