    MAH and 1p 2p Question

    Hi guys

If i was to take 2 X 3000mah 4s packs and wire them in parallel as 2p, and then take 1 6000mah 4s1p pack, would there be any difference ? (both same C rating)

im thinking Milliamps are Milliamps, only other thing is you have 8 cells worth of internal resistance.

    Cheers
    Matt.

      Nope, no difference Matt.
If you run batteries in parallel you simply add the mah rating together.
If you were brave enough ( or silly enough) to disect a 6000mah 4S 1P pack I think you would find that the manufacturer has internally connected several lower rated cells in parallel to achieve 6000mah per 'cell' anyway.
6000mah is 6000mah no matter how you achieve it.
My Spider hull runs 2 X 2500mah 4S packs in parallel to give me 5000mah.
The reason for doing this was because the limited space for the batteries is only 140mm long ( it was designed for 2 X 6 cell Nimh cells ) and at the time the only 2S 5000mah packs were all longer than this.
Just remember when you parallel packs the mah must be the same or you run the risk of the lower rated cells being exhausted first and possibly being reverse charged by the still active higher rated cells.
      Graham.
