    Quick 8xl question

Last time I ran my BJ26 it flipped and the hull loaded up with water, screwing up my Hydra 240. Now seeing as I'll need another ESC to run my other motor I figured I'd get one specifically for the 8xl.

What amperage should I be looking for? 100, 180??

100 works fine if you follow the 80% rule as the 8XL is rate for 83, do not pull more than 80% of the max amp that every components can accept!
but the higher you choose the better it is, a 180A ESC has a lower internal resistance, so less power loss, more speed, less heat to dissipate...

        Blackjack.
A good rule of thumb is to use an ESC with double the rating of the motor.
An 8XL can pull well over 100A if you nail it at the start, or coming off a slow corner. It may only be for a couple of seconds but it's there & your ESC has to deal with it.
I use the Himodel 200A ESC on my 8XL in a cat. Barely gets warm. Have to watercool it yourself though.
HiModel GX Seires 200A 4-8S Electric Speed Controller W/BEC Type GX-200A-BEC from manufacturer HiModel, in category Brushless Speed Control (BL ESC) - Air/ Helis, Electric Speed Control (ESC).

The Etti 150 seems a popular choice too.
        All the best.
        Paul.

So what can a 6xl pull?

            Not sure Blackjack.
At nearly 2800kv you are going to have to prop down a bit.
Max current is stated as 110A, so I personally would go for at least 180-200 Amp controller. I imagine the spikes could be right up there.
Perhaps someone can work it out from the F/E calcs tables. Sorry I've had no experience with them, the motor or the tables.
            Cheers.

An 8xl is definately a much more versatile motor and can run a much wider range of props.
