    Cooling inlets/outlets

    Hi,

I'm going to be cooling the ESC (Jeti 600) on my project boat and would like to use a water inlet fitting on the transom for the tube leading from my outboard monted water pick-up. On other boats I usually see the water tube going directly through a hole into the hull, but I wanted a cleaner look if this set-up wont slow the water flow. I will also be using an outlet fitting but need to know how far up from the waterline to mount or doesn't it matter as long as it is above? Thanks ----Rob

Not sure what you mean by this. Are you trying to add another pickup??

Gundert makes a water pickup and exit that installs in the bottom of the boat. So I doubt it matters weather or not the water exit is above or below the water line

Sorry, it did sound confusing...just a single pick-up...just want to route the water tube through the transom via a stainless inlet fitting/w nipple instead of just passing the tube through a hole in the hull. Wondered if this was too restrictive. ----thanks

        Shouldnt be restrictive at all.

Mount it in the general area where the tube would pass through if it didnt have one of these fittings.

        Ive ran these before.

I wouldn't think it would restrict at all since all the equipment runs these fittings as well.
Just like z400 said as well, he's run them and I doubt he's had problems with this setup either.

They do add a clean look but i have found them not necessary.

But it is all totally up to you and what you want to put on your boat.
I think they look good but i dont run them anymore since its just extra money.

You can also think of it as another connection that can fail and leak and cause devastation to your day out on the lake.
