    setting up my skunkworks cat

I ended up getting a good deal on a skunkworks cat with some octura hardware and a sv esc and motor setup. I'm in the process of bondoing a few dings and airpockets and tomorow will lay a few primer coats. Anyways, I was curious as to a good prop setup for this hull that will put me at 40mph give or take a few and decent run times. Nothing too crazy. I will be running the sv setup on 4s 5000mah rhinos. Can't wait to get this thing in the water after experiencing the thrill while running my titan 29.

Lots of views, but not a single response. Same thing happened to my last thread. I'm beginning to feel unwanted.

HAHA you missed the AM and PM parts buddy. I posted this 13 hours between my second post. Yea you gave me a prop, which is what Im gonna start with, but still dont want to have just one prop especially a plastic one just incase something happens. Wait till you see this thing bustitup. She was in pretty harsh shape, lets just say I wouldnt have just repainted and stuck it in the water. I have been bondoing the little pinholes that are everywhere in the hull, sanding, priming, rince and repeat. She will be getting a coat of candy purple to make her shine on the water.

Also, the inside was a little rough, dunno who mounted the servo or motor mount but it was a rough job haha. Had to pull the servo mount, as well as scrape out the waterlogged tape that was under the motor mount and reapply some serious epoxy. Its been fun this far though!

ok ok you should buy differant sizes of plastic props till you find the best ones then convert to metal...cheaper testing that way OSE has good selection of 3/16" plastic or fiberglass or carbon props

cant wait to see the finish product

Me either buddy! After running my Titan 29 I'm super excited to see what this thing acts like out on the water. I dont have a rescue boat yet so when I watch my boat get loose it sends chills up my spine. That is a serious fun factor.

Not like my helis where if I see it get loose I duck and cover and count up the parts tab haha.

One thing i had to do with my skunk cat was add a bulk head to the front of it, as i noticed the tunnel had started to angle in at the front. I fixed by cutting a piece of 1 3/4 board to the same width as the tunnel at the transom making sure both edges were perfectly sq. i then pushed the hull down over the board having to spread it at the front. Then i laid CF across the inside tunnel floor, then i epoxied in a 1/4 ply bulk head. the hull tunnel is now the same width from front to back and the inside sponsons are perfectly sq.
I'll post some pics for you when i can if you like?

              Heath

As for props, start with a 42mm and work ur way up, u'll probably find it will spin a 45mm prop no probs :)

Hmm, I will have to look into this hull a little bit more. It seems sturdy right now minus a little crack by where the top goes on.

oh and pictures would be good as well!

Where do you find is a good place to set the boats COG? Is there any certain 42mm props you would suggest? like x640 or 440 or what?

Just make sure that you have a lipo cutoff for the SV ESC. The most suitable prop. will probably be an X642 for speed. I would start with an X442,X642,X445 or the Graupner 2317.42,2317.45
Start with 42mm ones measure the temps after 1 min.run and if below 140F put the 45mm.
For the COG it should be 31-33% hull's length from transom. Please note that I do not have the specific boat.

Is there any specific cutoff you guys like? I dont have one in my titan either and it runs the same electronics setup. Would like to have one in there so I can maximize my run times, right now I just run it 5 minutes then come in but I barely used 50% of the pack.

This one was very popular and also tested it

hmm. good price. So it just goes between the esc and receiver. So if I feel the boat start to slow I just bring it in and done. Not bad sounding at all.

cutoff should be 3.2volts per 1s
