We have a couple of UL-1s in our club and they are rockets! They have thier flaws just like any RTR but all of the fixxes can be found here. You really do get a great boat for the price.

Any one of them are great starter boats for the money. All can be upgraded as well if (and when) the urge hits.

I have a SV and a Blackjack and will be adding a UL1 this summer.

For a first boat, I would recommend a SV. It has loads of potential as both a play boat and race boat. The hardware on the sv is better than the BJ. And its more durable than the hydro. If you want pure speed and can cope with the fact that a 45mph boat that crashes will break or crack and need to be repaired, the Hydro is the way to go. But do some reading on it. There are some area's that need addressing. Also keep in mind that the SV and BJ will run on NiMH, the UL-1 is best with Lipo.
