Do I need to water cool an ele. outboard?

    Hi,

I'm moving along with my project boat and have come to a question about cooling. I will be running an outboard and would like to know if I need to water cool it. Being exposed I wasn't sure if I could just get away with the cooling fan built into the motor I'm running. Many of the electric outboards I have seen in pics do get water cooled. Here is what I'm working with -

    30" Deep Vee
    Jeti 600 ESC
700 series fan cooled drill motor running 12 cells
    K&B 3.5 lower outboard unit
    Octura x440 2 blade prop

Note - I'm not planning on running with a motor cover, etc.

    Thanks!

I think you'll be fine without it on the motor... I'd cool the ESC if it has provision...

Do you have any pictures you could show us?
      Sounds like a fun build!

I ran my VS1 this winter without water cooling for the motor. I did not overheat.
I did have cooling for the ESC, however.
