I was present and after the "dude, what da f***s", I asked him what the buoy was made of... it's a regular buoy, it just hit the exact wrong way.... it was a good day until then, aside of the broken turn fin earlier in the day... after that it was all down hill for him... the Miss Olympia was a bullet and the UL-1 as well...
              Tony, bummer man...

Actually the buoy was a round, pumpkin-sized docking bumper that's used on full sized boats that was left behind by a club that used the lake for a gas/nitro race last weekend. (The local club uses balloons for buoys.) New VS-1 being ordered today, then the work begins !! The VS-1 is an awesome boat, handled perfectly, and will live again

A total bummer Tony were the batteries, ESC, etc. OK as I presume they got wet?

Ahhh crap, T. I take it the installed floatation is not enough in the VS-1 to keep it afloat, or was it in pieces??

Maybe you can hollow out the left over sponson and fit some micro gear in there.

Actually the boat, minus the sponson floated upside down just fine. The radio/battery compartment was still dry/intact.

Jan suggested that I trim off the other sponson & make a shorter boat. Didn't sound feasible although I gave it some thought. I may stick the sponson piece to my forehead for Unicorn Day in Hollywood
