I would start with the mystery motor. the 380 cans are much heavier. try the outrunner on 2S (1200 mah) and stay light. start with a 30mm prop. Mine has serious torque roll, so you might need to go with an inrunner, but still go small and light - the secret to these guys.

i will be watching this one with interest.
I have a 23" home build Balsa cat with a 540-8S on 2S lipo with a 432 prop and it is wild.
I am open to the idea of outrunners particularly if I retro-fit a twin-drive into this hull
Do you have a link to the particular mystery outrunner that you have in mind ?

        Thanks.
        See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Links are easy, go to the page with your motor, copy the address out of the top field where they appear and then paste in your message. I would, but don't have time right now to go digging. It is in Dr. Jets thread about the micro turbine hydro, try a search on MTH and mystery on the OFE forums... Its 3000 kv and is pretty fast on 2s, but light weight. I got my 14" scratch built going over 20, but the torque roll cooled my enthusiasm. Got me an in runner coming. will let you know how it works.
