    Trim tabs...

I had 2 questions....about trim tabs and a water intake system...

    1) My current project boat, a 30" Prather Commander deep vee former 3.5 cc nitro outboard, came with about a pound of huge stainless steel trim tabs, turn fins, etc. I converted the K&B outboard to a run a 700 series motor + 12 cells, I removed the trim system hardware and will be installing a lighter system to trim the boat. I would like some suggestions as to what system or product to try. The outboard is completely adjustable for trim and height, etc. I'm not sure why the original set up included almost 3" long trim tabs, maybe I need them with this hull? I thought a lighter set-up would be better especially since this Prather trim tab design is probably 25 years old and advances have been made since then.

    2) The outboard has a water pick-up behind the prop. Will this be enough to split a cooling line to the motor coil and to the ESC (a yet to be ordered Jeti 600)?

I have been learning a great deal on this site and I appreciate the help. Being an "old" nitro guy and new to FEs it is a challenging task!!! This hull is setimental to me...saw it in a hobby shop when I was about 17 and finally saved the cash to get it, followed by the hardware kit later on. Got sick of the nitro hassle and it sat for years. So, I guess I could get a lighter set-up but the nostalgia has taken over ! Thanks ----Rob

Ron if im gettig you the lower unit of the 3.5 outboard is what you want to go with? If so you will need a bit of custom adaptor and coupler work done to fit an electric motor. Not about motor IMO you will need a minimum of a big 800 size. I'm ou ofthe loop for almost a year now so IDK where you can grab one. The Jeti esc will be fine. Hope I helped a little. Id say try and make this thing work. I'm a firm believer in going wih wha you have as long as it dont break the bank :).
