    Motor mount questions

Hi all. I am getting ready to start converting a SW36 to brushless and plan to use the Feigao 580L motor. I have found a couple of motor mounts that I would like some more info on.

1.) Product ID: etti-h010 - Adjustable Motor Mount 540 Size

    http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-h010

Anyone have this mount? Could you be so kind to give me a couple of dimensions on it? I am looking for the width of the inside blue plate and the overall width of the mount with the side plates on it. Chances are, the blue plate will work and at worst, I'll make some new carbon fiber or aluminum side plates to get the right mounting width.

2.) Product ID: tfl-509b14 - Adjustable Water Cooled Mount for 380 to 540 Size
    http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...rod=tfl-509b14

3.) Product ID: tfl-502b12 - Adjustable Mount for 380 to 540 Size Motors

    http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...rod=tfl-502b12

Same questions on #2 and #3. Anyone have this mount? Dimensions of inside plate and overall width with the included side plates? I like the water cooled mount

I am hoping to find at the very least, a center plate I can use and I can make side plates to varying widths without much difficulty. Ideally I want to use the existing rubber isolated mounts where the nitro engine used to live. It does not look to be that tough, I would just like to get a grasp on the dimension of the above mounts so I have a clue what to start with.

    Thanks for any info!!

I have those mounts as well but I will say you may need something longer to handle the 580. That is a pretty long and heavy motor and you would certainly have to use a wedge or something at the rear of the motor to stop it from bouncing or even coming apart from the weight.

        Good point, about the bouncing.
Or to use this kind of mounts but to support the motor also from the back side.

something to very carefull with is the fact that the 580 is a 45mm motor and when you put the propper water jacket on it will become very wide and will not fit in a lot of motor mounds....you really need one without any sides on it like this one

          ose-drmount

but you need to bend it yourself

I used this one and modified it to work with my 45mm kb45 motor with water jacket (it just fits) in a mean machine

I really like the one they use in the vacu pickle because it is very adjustable and has that rear support built in

          hope this helps

Agreed. I did plan on some kind of rear mount or support. I had a 10XL come apart in a monster truck before and have learned my lesson I am guessing I'll use some sort of lower support just to keep it from flexing downward but I figured this part would be easy to do once I get the motor mounted.

Thanks for the insight. I have access to a press brake so this might be a good route to take. I figured that I would order a mount or two, the motor and water jacket and go from there. 45mm motor + water jacket = big fat motor!

Thanks again everyone for the tips. I appreciate it!
