I would still like to see video of it running. The motor he runs retails for 169. That is cheap if it works in sport boating applications. I would like to run one in a razor if it could be done.

red6, I'm in the same position...I run in the sea and its choppy most of the time and rough now and then. I ordered one of the motors from jimw and going to try it in a 46" mono, hoping to get 40mph. Based on what the guy said abt his setup I think it will work.
Very little amp draw with the Scorpion motor considering the prop i'm running(X457/3). I run 6 laps on a full size 1/6 mi course and barely pulling 3000mah from my 25C 10s1p 4900s. Equates to about 70 amps. I think i found the sweet spot.Comment

I was going to post this link Also. Ken has a proven 60mph setup without spending squillions.
a boat the size you are talking of IMO would be best suited for twins.
I have had good experiences with the Zippy 20-30c lipos, I have also used the cells in a 3d heli and they have outlasted my Align and Thunderpower packs and still after many many cycles perform well. The Align and TP packs are pretty much unusable now.

Two of these should do the trick - I think they are the same motor Ken posted. I plan to build a 1/8 hydro using a single one of these, same ESC that Ken has used. (TAHNKS KEN!!!!) and 10s2p for my next project.Comment
