    cyberstorm stinger/rudder position

i have a DF 33" cyber storm on the way with a speed master stinger my question is how far should the bottom of the stinger be from the bottom of the transom
i have researched this and seen from 2-8mm or 3/8 to centre of shaft
also rudder offset would be good to know as well
    thanks scott

In my opinion it should be as close as possible to the bottom of the v the reason is that if you have it say 4mm from the bottom of the v on one boat and 6 mm on another boat if you use the same prop you louse 2 mm out of the prop so i guess on the boat that the stinger is 6mm from the bottom of the v you would have to run a prop 4 mm bigger in diameter to have the same amount of blade in the water
I hope it makes some sense to you
    Cheers Adrian

      thanks adrian
my thought was if its up a little then it would help plant the back of the boat in the water a bit better like lifting the strut up on a cat

to change the attitude of the boat you can adjust the angle of the strut putting more down angle will push the bow down (make the boat run wet) and the other way will lift the bow out of the water Cheers m8

Here is one of my boats the MHZ Lizard Xtreme might give you an idea of the rudder placement too

i understand the stinger angle changes the attitude of the boat i just thought there maybe a formula, just like having your prop from the transom should be around 10% of the hull lenght
          or maybe its a secret
i have been watching your build thread and they are very nice clean builds you have there adrian
          thanks scott

I have mine set as bottom of strut 4mm above hull's bottom. I think 4-6 mm should be fine. The boat planes very easily but my strut is not adjustable. I can adjust the attitude (noise up or down) by the trim tabs and/or moving the cog fwd or aft.
Is your stinger going to be adjustable or fixed? If it is adjustable are you going to use teflon?
Adjustable without teflon is not an easy thing and needs some more thought.
There are some mono experts here and maybe will give you their advise. From my experience the mono is more difficult to set up than the cat.

the picture of the stingers is the one i have ordered,it is adjustable for pos-neg for the prop but also looks like the whole unit can be moved up and down
i will be using a teflon liner

yes you can adjust +and - angle and if you wanted to you could make it so you can adjust the height

You might get some ideas on how to adjust the height

Since you will use teflon things are easier. You can stop the brass tube just outside the hull and then let the teflon with the flex run into the stinger

                    Epower

May I ask what is this material for sealing your brass tube?
