    Pro Boat Thunder Cat 31

what up guys, I love brushless lipo boats so much I'm looking to convert another. But this time I'd like to do a larger 36" 6.5lb's ProBoat ThunderCat 31. Its said to have 1.1 hp, its luck to hit 32 with stock setup. Soooo,,,, Can I get away with a similar setup as my sv27. I'm not looking to go faster than 40 or so, so I'm thinking a 1500kv motor but I don't know if I can get away with a (2) 2s 5000mah batterys?

It will take more power to reliably go 40mph with that boat. I would suggest a Feigao 580L and 6s lipo. (2) 3s packs. It can be done with 4s also, but with 4s the amps will be higher, since the voltage will be lower. I like the higher voltage, its easier on the esc.

Can I use a cheaper motor than the feigao's? What amp esc if I go 4s 120amp to be on the safe side?

I have a TC31 converted to BL. I used a Neu 1515/1.5Y(1500kv), Hydra 120, .187 cable, 5s2p 9800mah, M645 prop, and she runs great at about 50mph and everything comes in cool, all around 100*F. Would make a great lap runner. Its a nice riding boat and consistent too.

Its for sale too. PM me if interested.
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

Firstly Brad, the TC31 is not 36" but 31"(ish). With all the plywood reinforcing stringers inside, it is quite heavy. From the above pics you can see Calcagno stripped his one completely. I run a 540 13XL with 6S1P 4000mah 25C through a Himodel 200A ESC and a X442 prop. Haven't GPS'ed her with that set-up yet (I misplaced my Nuvi...) but will soon. In the photo she still has her Etti 150A ESC in, I'll post pics of the latest set-up in my OSE build-thread later.
