I can't imagine Ed doing much anymore in hardware. I think all his cables are still made and Ray Fuller gets most of these. I have a couple old struts from Ed and used his cables when I ran cables. Most struts today are not used with the step down in the nose as he made. It is the best design for the shaft but nobody seem to use those anymore.
Still, his cables are the best...they are brazed and nobody else in the industry does this. I do not even know many using the Octura struts or rudders anymore...I have been talking with Tom the last few days on a project. He even likes to refer back to 10-15 years ago on set ups and what was used.
But these are the men that have made this sport a big hobby so we certainly are all in debt to them for R&R on rc boat hardware the last 25 years.
Tom and me were lauging about him with his first tethered plane and boats...it was too funny but he remembers it very vividly. They were very dangerous. One story was he was runnign aboat on a teather at 50 mph and a dog went after it...said it missed this lady's dog by inches and he said it was one in a million that the dog did not get his head cut off with the cable.
Good guys. but Jay hit it on the head. I tried working a deal with him to build a web site wya back for him with his name on it but it got to be to hard for him to grasp so we dropped it. Nothing more than a site that would fax him the orders to ship and money sent to him. I respect their position but told them what they were missing the boat (literally) by not being on the web.
