If it were for "HOTROD" magazine maybe finer but not for my boats. Thin coats is about the most important. paint has "flash" time in which it starts to tack and thats the time you take between each coat. just take your time so you dont have to do it twice.
I agree, but I also use 3M Scotch-Brite™ 000 Ultra Fine Gray Pads (synthetic 000 steel wool) for final sanding of primer-surfacer before color coat. You can buy the Norton version 000 Gray pads at Homedepot. These pads will not clog and work wonders around curves and flat areas.

You don't have to but you will have better results and less clogging if you do. Just put some water in a bowl with a couple of drops of dish soap and let it soak for 10 minutes or so. Then once you start to use it keep dipping it in the bowl. This will wash off any accumulation and help to keep it lubricated for the most even finish. Like FE applications heat is your enemy.

Finished last night, did kind of rush it a little, but it does look bloody awersome, spent a lot of time on the cowl and sponsons 200,400,600,800 wet and dry primer then 600, 800 and paint 2-3 light coats, sponsons and cowl look 10/10 but the tub looks a little more like 8/10 due to me not being bothered too much with all the curves and all,

kinda made the mistake of useing candy apple red and green, dont get me wrong colour look great, but together it looks a little like a christmas tree, some stickers should break it up a little.

            pics coming soon.

            keep you all posted
