    Blackjack 55 coversion to electric

Seeing as Proboat decided to send me a new hull for the one that's broken, I figure it would be fun to turn the one hull into an electric 55, but I have no idea what type of hardware and electronics to use or where to get it from. I was thinking of making it a twin engine twin inline strut rudder system. Does anyone know where to get this equipment from?

You will be fine with the stock hardware.
Might look into the upgraded rudders by Aeromarine.

that is one heavy boat, gonna need 2 big motors since you plan on running a dual set up.
Look forward to spending some serious money on batteries if you havent already done so.

Cant wait to see it moving.

Hope you have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You are going to need it to do a single motor conversion, let alone a dual!!!
Siplest methoud, order the stock hardware from Horizon, or transfere you existing hardware. Use a single motor, a 3080 LMT or the big Neu, get 4 packs of 5S LiPos and a 240 HV Hydra or a Schultze speed controller, Figure about $3,000 as an estimate!

I think I'll go with 2 3080 LMT air cooled motors ($1200.00) and then add water cooling jackets (40.00) around them. I'll pick up 2 Hydra 240 HV's (1080.00) as I only have one regular 240. But where will I get the batteries from? What voltage and amperage would I be looking for? Would the MaxAmps 12000mah lipo's work?

So far my bill would be $2320.00 without batteries.

Minuimun Qty 4 , 5S LiPos of at least 5000mAh 25C rating. Connect in series and then parallel. If you are going with twin motors, figure about 3-4 minutes run time. As with any LiPo, get the higest capacity and C rating possible.

If you go with twins you will need 10s2p per side.. That is a total of 8x 5s 5000mAh 25/35C packs to get it done right.. You need 37V/10,000mah + per motor and esc...
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

Rich, would you not need 8 to do the setup described in your post #6?

Nevermind Just realized you were talking about 10S packs!

A 10S lipo battery is going to take a good charger to charge and balance and if you have 4 lipos you will need 4 chargers too so you can spend an hour charging again to run less than 10 minutes

I do not think you will just be able to pop the hood on the car and charge off the car battery either

I wanted to do a Brushless conversion on my BJ55 a while back and was told that One Lehner 3080, One Schultz speedo (this was before the Hydra 240 HV was available from Castle) on 10s lipo would get this boat hauling a$$. I gathered this info from RCuinvierse a few years ago, you could probably still find the thread on there and that may be of help as well. Twin setup?? WOW!! Better do some hull reinforcing, the glass on the BJ is pretty thin.
