Help!! with a (new) old school motor

Can anybody tell me the specs on a Trinity/Speedworks Monster Marine motor? I have a brand new one (never used other than to test, had it since working on an r/c boat project in high school and lost interest) and would like to see what kind of battery setup I can use so I don't smoke it.

I cannot find a single thing on this motor...this was cutting edge back then, '90/'91...I feel old!

    Thanks ----Rob

Not sure on the specs, but back than most people used 6cell nicad packs. So i would use a 6 cell nimh or 2s lipo these days

      Thanks for the reply!

I was wondering if I could run 12 cells, as in two "y" harnessed 6 cell packs? It is on a 30" glass Prather hull around, 3 1/2 - 4 pounds. I'm not looking for blazing speed, just a nice planing boat for sport use.

      Thanks

I assume not. Most 6 cell motors had heat issues running just 8cells.

I run two Monster Marine Motors in my SH with up to 18 cells in series, I do cool the brushes and can...

            Red65,

Finally, somebody with info on this old thing! I can't find anything on line regarding these dinosuars from the late 80's/90's

What is the performance like on these MM motors compared to a stock motor of the same size? What speed control do you suggest?

I got this thing years ago and have not yet tried it out. I am eventually going to go larger and more up-to-date power for my Prather hull, but this summer I'm going to try and get a season out of the M.M.

            Thanks ----Rob

The motors never ran hot with my set up, they do get get warm.
Here is a pic of the motors.

As far as the speed Controller it's a PDI Zeta, I 've been out of the RC Boat world for a few years so I won't be of any help, as I am still catching up myself..LOL
This is a great site and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to help you.

Twin motors are a bit different. It depends on how they were wired.
