    opinions wanted

ok right now i have the quannum motor in my cat..... its fast and im happy but i would like to invest in a motor that will make this thing scream........also the quannum is a bit too long and it pushes the lid up a little..... that means i cant use a xl the sv motor fits fine so would my only option be the ammo motor...... kv on the quannum is 1350..... my temps are cool and long runtime..... which is great for sport running but if i want to really wow people i want to just switch the motor out..... right now its fastest pass was 43.2 on my dads radar gun (hes a cop) i want to get 50 plus...... speed control handles 70a..... i guess im a little short on options but i wasnt sure..... im also using a x430/3 should i try an x632 or a 2 blade prop

I'm a bit confused. You are running a 1350 Kv motor on 16 cells with an x430 prop and going 43 mph? Something does not add up here - it is just not possible.

I think you are actually using an x440/3 prop*. In that case...go to an x640 and you should see several more mph. An x642 may work and add a few more mph, but you are amp-limited here. You will need to be careful with that ESC - adding cells but keeping the amp draw the same is the safest way to go to get the power you need.

A more powerful motor with a higher Kv will do it, but again the amp limit is there. A 14L or 15L motor will fit and on 16 cells will give you pretty good speed, but watch the heat. That is a pretty small motor for 16 cells and you will not have much run time due to heat. That motor will need a smaller prop to start, around an x438 or y536.

There is no perfect solution due to the limits placed by your ESC and motor size. 50 mph is in reality quite a benchmark - in spite of what you read on various forums there are not very many 50 mph boats that do not race in sanctioned events. IMO radar is flawed and I do not trust it....a GPS is better, but a trap is best. Since few of us have a good trap available, the GPS has become the standard in the hobby for speed measurement. It is kinda amusing to see how many "50 mph boats" turn out to barely break 40 under a GPS.

      * IMO a three-bladed prop does not belong on most FE boats. The sizes available are severely limited, and the load/pitch ratio is usually poor if speed is the goal. Use a 2-bladed prop for most of your boating and you will be happier with the results.

yes i am using the x430/3 acctually gps today on 14 it was a tick under 40...... stopped using 16 cell to much heat and was afraid to burn something up...... would a 14L on 14 be a good place to start for some speed increase i think i need to invest in a good speed control and motor both of what i have right now are ok but by no means a great product to rely on imo

what about this one mega 22/30/2 53mm long 1770 kv 70amp using steve's little tool 38mph on 12 cells with a x442 prop. on mega's site they list it swinging up to a x645 direct.

are you using a flex shaft? if so you can change the angle of the motor mount, laying the motor flatter would allow you to use an XL size motor. but this might require modifying the stuffing tube also. It just depends on your set up.
